Bentonite

Bentonite:

• In Drilling. The bentonite is finely powdered clay material (mainly montmorillonite) which swells when mixed with water. Commonly used as a mud additive.
• In Geology/Geoscience. Special assemblage of clay minerals, in many instances formed by weathering of acidic lavas and pyroclastic rocks.
