Bioturbation

Bioturbation: Evidence in sedimentary rocks for the burrowing by organisms that were either feeding or living in the sediment. Borings are living burrows in lithified rock. Not to be confused with plant traces (e.g., rootlets). Used for palaeo-environmental interpretation.
