Interesting, but Troll Field, one of the largest oil fields on the Norwegian continental shelf (in 2002 oil production was more than 400,000 barrels per day), was not considered an oil field at all when it was discovered. When Shell discovered the field, they knew there was oil there, but they thought it was not recoverable. They were only interested in gas.
