Cataclasis:
- The process of mechanical fracture or break-up of rocks, usually associated with dynamic faulting or metamorphism. The term is used both for small-scale, i.e. microscopic structures, and also for large-scale phenomena.
- Brittle granulation of rock at low temperature and low to moderate confining pressure; may be accelerated by high fluid pressure.
