Clay

The clay is a term used to describe the aluminium silicate minerals which are plastic when wet and have no well-developed parting along bedding planes, although it may display banding. Such material is commonly encountered while drilling a well.1 This term generally reserved for material which has a particle size less than 1/256 mm2.
