DHI = Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators, seismic anomalies that may indicate the presence of hydrocarbons. Amplitude anomalies are often flat ("flat spots") or bright ("bright spots") and associated with gas. "Gas chimneys" are sometimes observed above oilfields and are expressed as a series of anomalies in a plume over the field attributed to gas leakage.
