Dolomite:
- Mineral: See Carbonates.
- Rock: The term dolomite as a rock name is usually confined to rocks with more than 15% magnesium carbonate. Dolomites may occur with evaporites. Calcite limestones are readily dolomitised, and in modern sediments dolomite seems to form as a result of penecontemporaneous dolomitisation by hypersaline water (brine).
