Faecal pellets

Faecal pellets: Small masses of the excreta of invertebrates, usually no larger than 2-3 mm in diameter. Generally they are ovoid, but occasionally they may be rodshaped. It is probable that faecal pellets are present in most sediments but are rarely recognised as such because of their dispersion amongst other material. Occasionally, however, thin beds or lenses are found consisting almost entirely of these pellets.
