Mixtures of Methane and Ethane

The plot below shows a family of mixtures of methane and ethane. To the left the phase diagram of a mixture containing mostly light components with some heavier components. To the right, the mixture contains decreasing amounts of the lighter components, and increasing amounts of the heavier ones.

As the composition shifts towards heavier components, its phase envelope becomes elongated and lays down toward the right.
