Upscaling is the process of creating a coarser grid (with lower resolution) based on the geological fine grid (with high resolution).
The term also applied to Scale up well logs.
Why Upscale?
- Reduce CPU time for uncertainty analysis and risk assessment
- Make fine-scale simulation practical
